UoC Meets Payment Obligations

WILLEMSTAD – In a press release, the University of Curacao Dr. ir. Moises da Costa Gomez (UoC) stated that it fulfills its duty to inform the community correctly.
Contrary to what is being ventilated in the local media by the director of ABC Education & Training, the UoC informs that for all its employees and therefore also the Rector Magnificus, for years it has indeed fulfilled both its duty to withhold and the obligation to pay with regard to the social expenses, taxes and pension contributions. The insinuation that the UoC has millions of debts with government agencies is also incorrect, since the UoC had made payment arrangements with these authorities in the past and kept to it. In addition, the UoC has been able to ensure that a large part of the debts of the past have been reorganized after various negotiations with the government. This concerned old premiums for AOV, AVBZ, OV and wage and turnover tax.
The contents of the AIFM report also refer to the MCA and APC loans referred to have long since become obsolete as they no longer apply. The UoC does not have a loan with these institutions.
In the past, the UoC, together with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport plus Finance, has worked in a committee to find a structural solution to the financial challenges of the university. The report that resulted from these discussions has already been submitted to the government.
Finally, the UoC reports that the director of ABC Education & Training apparently has taken as a hobby to involve the UoC in its communications to the media. The UoC is a self-respecting institute that regulates its affairs in a professional and appropriate manner. Given that there is a lot of work to be done at the university to realize its plans and ambitions, the UoC informs the community that in the future it will no longer respond to the statements of the director of ABC Education & Training.
